This policy explains what RatingDietPlans.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. We have kept it specific to how this site actually works rather than using generic template language.
The short version
We do not require an account, we do not ask for health information, and we do not sell personal data. Reading reviews on this site is anonymous beyond ordinary web analytics. The only place you can deliberately give us personal information is the contact form.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Jetpack, a service from Automattic, to see which pages are read and roughly where readers come from. This records information such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you visit. We use it to understand which reviews are useful, not to identify individuals. Server logs
Our web host keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses and requested pages, for security and troubleshooting. This is ordinary web hosting behaviour and applies to any site you visit.
The contact form
Our contact page embeds a Google Form. Anything you type into it is submitted to and stored by Google, and is governed by Google’s privacy policy as well as this one. We see your message and whatever contact details you choose to include. Please do not send us medical information — we are not able to give personal health advice, and the form is not a secure or confidential channel.
The diet finder
The interactive tool on our home page runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us, not stored, and not shared with anyone.
Cookies
This site sets cookies for basic functionality and for the analytics described above. Third-party services embedded in our pages, including Google Forms, may set their own. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some embedded content may not.
Affiliate links
Some links to diet programmes are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you subscribe after clicking one. Following such a link passes information to that company, typically including a referral code and standard browser details, and their own privacy policy then applies.
Affiliate relationships never influence our ratings. Scores are calculated from six published criteria, and our full method is set out on the How We Score page. See our Disclaimer for more.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not run user accounts, logins, or newsletters.
- We do not ask for, store, or process health or medical information.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to certain processing. This includes readers covered by the UK and EU GDPR and by California privacy law. Since we hold very little — in most cases nothing beyond analytics that does not identify you personally — such requests are usually straightforward. Contact us and we will respond as promptly as we can.
How long we keep things
Analytics data is retained according to Jetpack’s own retention schedule. Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message. Server logs are rotated by our host on its standard cycle.
Changes to this policy
If we add a service that collects information differently, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
